What legally controls the period before the divorce is final?
During the divorce temporary orders can be put in place that order things such as child support, spousal support, child custody and visitation and temporary division of property (house, automobiles, bank accounts, etc.). These orders will remain in effect during the pendency of the divorce. Once the divorce is granted and the marriage dissolved, the temporary orders are replaced by the final orders.
